About Hydroponics

For many people, hydroponics is an intimidating science that is best left to experts. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. In fact, once you give it a shot, you’ll likely find it much easier than maintaining a traditional soil garden!

Simply put, hydroponics is the process of growing plants without actually using soil. You can grow pretty much anything hydroponically, from flowers and herbs to fruits and vegetables, for personal use or for large-scale, commercial food production.

When compared to traditional soil gardening, hydroponics has several major advantages:

  1. Better plant health
  2. Faster plant growth
  3. Increased productivity/greater yield
  4. Decreased water and energy consumption

The reason is simple: It is much easier to give plants the nutrients they need for healthy growth through water than through soil. Soil tends to prevent the roots of the plants from absorbing the nutrients necessary for healthy growth.
